Big Brother Africa: The moles have a dig!

CONTRARY to popular opinion, the Moles – Ashanti and Victor, both successful models and actors based in South Africa – did not apply to be in the Big Brother Africa house.

Although the two say their stint in the house was an awesome and amazing experience, they were both just going about their daily lives when they were approached by the show’s producers about a role in the show. Given the mission of mixing things up in the house, Victor and Ashanti each had to try to split the housemates up and cause as much havoc as possible during the second last week of the show.Although they only had eight days in the house, the two attractive young models will definitely not be forgotten any time soon. They certainly made an impact.Speaking to them the day after their exit from the BBA house, both were very excited to be back in the real world and filled with fresh enthusiasm for what the future holds in store.ASHANTI Exotic beauty Ashanti, one of eight possible people from around Africa, originally hails from Kenya’s central province of Nyeri. Her radiant smile and stunning good looks seemed to entice the public to vote her into the BBA house, perhaps hoping she might be able to unsettle entrenched lovebirds, Richiana.”Although I am living in South Africa at the moment, I am 200 per cent Kenyan!” she exclaimed.”Most people think I am part Sudanese or Ethiopian but I’m not,” she said, explaining her unusual features. The leggy model has been living in the entertainment centre of southern Africa, Johannesburg, for the past three-and-a-half years. Many of you may remember her as one of the enticing beauties on M-Net’s game show ‘Deal or No Deal’ and others may have glimpsed her in the feature film ‘Masai’, shot in South Africa and Nairobi.”The film was very successful internationally, in France particularly,” she said.Ashanti said though she played a small part in the film, she believes that small parts lead to bigger ones.Passionate about drama and performing, Ashanti is currently studying drama part-time and would love to make the transition to acting in films full-time.She is kept very busy – her daily life is filled with glamorous photo shoots for television ads, print campaigns and runway modelling. When she first entered the house, her strategy was to bring the house to its knees, she said. She made it clear from the get go that she did not DO dishes, much to the annoyance of the other housemates. She also planned to use her feminine charms to create some competition for Tatiana, another leggy model-slash-actress.The two women were pretty similar, at least in terms of their careers, and Ashanti definitely had Richard doing a double take.”The housemates were quite suspicious of us at the beginning,” she said, “but I think that if it was not for Ofunneka, Richard and Tatiana would never have suspected a thing. She’s one clever woman, that Ofunneka!” she said.”As for Tatiana, when I told her about my fake Angolan housemate, a pastry chef, she believed me.Even going so far as to say that she knew him”.Ashanti believes her strategy definitely did have some effect. As much as Richard and Tatiana are very close, Ashanti believes that Tatiana was definitely intimidated and threatened by the presence of a beautiful woman.”She hardly left his side for a second. She even started dressing up more and putting on make-up!” she exclaimed.VICTOR Hunky Zimbabwean model and actor Victor has been making the most of his Adonis-like good looks by modelling in a range of television adverts and fashion shows. He started modelling two years ago when he won a modelling contract with Storm Management in South Africa.Since then he has had quite a bit of success, staring in television ads such as those for Nokia and Vaseline Intensive Care. The soft-spoken model and actor is also a studying journalism part-time, hoping to branch out into broadcast journalism once he has completed his course. If the fact that he was hand-picked to appear on Big Brother not once but twice is anything to go by, then I think Victor certainly has a bright future and viewers can definitely look forward to seeing him on our screens in the near future.”I never applied to be in the show, I was approached by the producers who asked me if I would be interested.I was up for the challenge but even at that point I was still only one of eight people,” he said.On his time in the house, Victor says that it was both a fascinating and intense experience.”After my stint in the BBA house, I think I might be open to taking on the challenge of staying in a house for three months” he said.”But this time, no lies! It was a fun experience but it was mentally challenging and tiring too.Can you imagine, I had to lie for a living, covering one lie with another lie! It was tough.”He also originally planned to come between Richard and Tatiana but found the task harder than he thought, “The two are very close and coming between them was tough,” he said.Asked who he thinks will be the ultimate winner of BBA, Victor does not hesitate to pick Ofunneka.”We connected well. She is fun and an intelligent and hardworking woman and although there was no romantic vibe between us, I felt a connection to her as a human being.I think she deserves to win this competition because she really needs it more than anyone else!” Well, there you go – the moles have had their say.Remember that you too can have a say in who wins this competition – keep voting and stay tuned for the BBA finale this Sunday.* Catch BBA2 on Channel 198, DStvGiven the mission of mixing things up in the house, Victor and Ashanti each had to try to split the housemates up and cause as much havoc as possible during the second last week of the show.Although they only had eight days in the house, the two attractive young models will definitely not be forgotten any time soon. She’s one clever woman, that Ofunneka!” she said.”As for Tatiana, when I told her about my fake Angolan housemate, a pastry chef, she believed me.Even going so far
