Big Brother Africa: A whole lot of woman!

Big Brother Africa: A whole lot of woman!

EISH! Ofunneka, she’s one dayum fine woman.

Yeah, peeps, I know that Richard fans tried to tar and feather Ofunneka as a one-dimensional “housemaid”. Bollocks! Believe me, Ofunneka is a whole lot more: she’s Ofunemama, Ofu, Nekka, Foxy Mama …and now add OfuneMamaMia! At Sunday night’s BBA afterparty at Latinova in Johannesburg, Ofu hit the dance floor like tracer bullets peppering multiple targets. It was something to behold. And she literally brought the house down! And OK, OK, I hear you! Thanks for all the messages and calls today asking for an interview with Ofu.I did speak to her, but there wasn’t enough space yesterday, and I thought it made sense to use Richard and Tatiana together, y’know Richiana! On Monday afternoon, I spoke to Ofunneka about her time in the house, THAT Saturday …and what the future holds …Ofunneka girl, so tell me how you’re feeling today? Ofunneka: Hey man, tired but good! Jeez Ofunneka, your dancing last night (Sunday) was something else.WOW! I’ve just renamed you OfuMamaMia! Ofunneka: Thank you babe.I enjoy dancing.I just love it.Once the music came on, I just danced …How did it feel coming so close to the big prize? Ofunneka: I’m very proud of myself, that I lasted the pace, and that I finished in second place.I’m still a winner.I did it.I feel good. And now? Ofunneka: I don’t know what’s waiting for me …but I’m sure there are many opportunities. But most immediately, I’m returning to Nigeria on Wednesday (today) or Thursday.I’m looking forward to spending some time with my family. It’s Christmas soon …I enjoy my family.I miss my mum a lot, I miss my people.OK Ofunneka, just between us, tell me about you and Victor (one of the moles brought into the house for eight days)? What went down? Ofunneka: He was giving me attention.Who doesn’t like attention! I enjoyed my teddy bear cuddles. He’s very cuddly! I’m small and he’s big.It was a nice feeling.OH YES Ofunneka! Ofunneka: Hey man, it was just nice to have someone paying ME some personal attention.SATURDAY AND SUNDAY Were you surprised that it was your brother there to welcome you on Sunday night and not your parents? Ofunneka: When I came to the house, my brother and mum were here.My mum couldn’t make it this time. But my brother told me my parents are proud of me.Do you think it (mum not being there) was possibly related to the controversy that erupted over THAT Saturday in the house? Ofunneka: Maybe she’s upset or wanted to keep away from the whole media thing.Maybe it’s because she’s seen what happened and it’s difficult for her …Have you been told about what went down, do you know what happened? Ofunneka: My brother gave me a hint …I want to see it (the footage). What do you think? Just about everyone who’s seen it has a different take or perception on what happened.I think it’s probably better if you sit down quietly when you get a chance and take a look yourself.Ofunneka: I want to see it.It was a crazy …almost unreal afternoon …I’d had seven shots of vodka …I don’t normally drink like that. There’d been a lot of stress …I don’t remember …THE GAME Did you model yourself on Cherise (the winner of BBA 1)? Ofunneka: No! I know who the hell I am (laughs).I’m an intelligent woman.I use my mind a lot.I’m a restless person.I cleaned and cooked when there was nothing else to do …You know, there were relationships on the go and they were busy with that.I love to dance, I like to have fun.I’m also serious.I like to hang with friends …One of the people I enjoyed hanging with in the house was Tati …Were you surprised that Richard won? Ofunneka: No.I thought we were both strong contenders. He’s entertaining, a cool guy.I thought if it ended up not being me, it would happen for him. Will you, Richard and Tati stay friends? Ofunneka: Hell yes. We’re going to stay friends forever. It’s a relationship I want to keep.I couldn’t have spent those last weeks with anybody else but them.Do you think it counted against you that you weren’t part of a couple? Ofunneka: I’m a strong, independent, focused woman …that is me …nothing will deter me if I set my mind to something.I could have played with the guys but I like to expose my mind first.I played as an independent. When I went in, I said I’m going to do it on my own. What about Richard and Tatiana? Ofunneka: People like major love stories. That was a major love story.Any other favourite housemates? Ofunneka: I enjoyed Justice. My guy was Justice. He’s just such a stubborn guy.Bertha.She’s an intelligent woman.Cody was cool, he was a nice guy …actually everybody. They’re all people I really cherish. What do you think of our girl Meryl? Ofunneka: She’s a very expressive young girl! She’s 21.Let her have her fun. We’ve all been young and been crazy, done crazy things …What are your immediate plans? Ofunneka: Of course, to go back home.Beyond that, I like to express myself.I’d like to think about getting into drama, TV, movies, acting. But I’d also like to do my job part-time, if I’m allowed to.I want to work with youth.I’m going to use the doors that open …You can’t let it go to your head that ‘I’m a BBA housemate’.You have to grasp the moment.Life is too short …and I have lots to do before I die! Do you still plan to visit The Vatican, meet the Pope? Ofunneka: It’s still on my agenda.I want to ask the Pope ‘how the hell do you do it?’ Just like that, ‘how the hell do you do it?!’ Ofunneka just bursts out laughing. What were your highlights? Ofunneka: Every day was a highlight for me, except when I was ill.But I was more embarrassed about that than anything else.I loved the dancing and the tasks, and when I won Head of House I was so proud of myself. You had a lot of support in Namibia. Is there anything you want to say to your fans here? Ofunneka: I love them.Thank you for the support.Thank you for watching, you made the show.Without you, there would not have been BBA.I hope to come to Namibia and if I do I’m going to paint the town red!Bollocks!
