Benthin a friend of Namibian farmers

BENTHIN African Agencies in Windhoek has 60 years of experience in hardware and fencing, and has grown into a loyal friend of the Namibian farming community.

Situated in Windhoek’s northern industrial area, the company’s products include steel, fencing material, agricultural implements, hardware for basic housing such as doors, locks, kitchen interiors and roofing materials, as well as a variety of tools, which are also sold to retailers all over Namibia, including neighbouring Angola.

The products are imported from England, United States of America, Germany, Italy, South Africa and the Middle East.

“The company’s effective service enabled us to grow into a prominent firm in the agricultural and housing sectors,” said Benthin’s managing director, Heiko von Ludwiger.

Benthin African Agencies has an integral history in Namibian agriculture.

The outbreak of the foot-and-mouth disease at the beginning of the 1960s resulted in the government buying all the available fencing material in the country, as farmers were forced to fence off their farms to control the movement of livestock.

“This got the ball rolling for the trade in fencing material, which also became the company’s focus and core business. We have however added many new products that appeal to our clients, and so today the company is the proud supplier of all kinds of steel fencing materials, as well as a wide variety of agricultural implements and tools,” said Von Ludwiger.

Like all successful companies in a competitive market, Benthin constantly has to adapt to an ever-changing market and economic situations.

“Our flexibility and adaptability together with good client relations helped us to survive the economic struggles of Namibia, and so these challenges gave rise to our greatest successes,” said Von Ludwiger.

The Benthin team admit there are other companies trading in similar products, but they maintain that they are different to their competitors because the company is built on relationships and excellent service.

“Our employees go the extra mile for our clients. We do not only sell the products but also provide advice and share our knowledge on the products, as well as their use, which include, but are not limited to, calculating quantities and quality for the client’s specific needs,” explained von Ludwiger.

“At Benthin, friendships are formed with our clients through years of continued support,” he said.
