Benchmark marks 25 years with N$10 billion

The Benchmark Retirement Fund now manages more than N$10 billion in assets, which was achieved by the end of June 2025.

The fund, founded in 2000 by RFS Fund Administrators, recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and reflected on its long journey.

What began as a small idea has turned into one of Namibia’s leading privately administered umbrella retirement funds, now serving over 21 000 members, including both active contributors and pensioners.

Founder and fund trustee Tilman Friedrich said relationships and trust have always been at the heart of their growth.

“The dedication of our people has always given Benchmark its soul, and it is their commitment that continues to define us,” said Friedrich.

Over the years, the fund has grown steadily and remained strong. In the past year, it gave members returns of between 14% and 20%, depending on their portfolio.

This was higher than inflation and helped members feel secure about their retirement savings.

“As we celebrate 25 years, we honour our dedicated service teams and valued clients who have shaped our story, while looking ahead to a future built on the same principles that brought us here,” said Friedrich.

Chairperson Afra Shimming-Chase said the fund continues to be guided by values such as integrity, humility, fairness, and transparency.

She added that Benchmark’s vision remains focused on creating “a dignified future” for its members.

As the celebrations looked back on the past, there was also a sense of looking forward. Friedrich says the story of Benchmark is not just about numbers, but about people.
