Former president Nangolo Mbumba has said it is beautiful to be called president and commander in chief, but difficult to be “chief mourner”.
Mbumba said this while speaking during the memorial service of former Namibian Defence Force chief Solomon Hawala at Ohakweenyanga, a village near Ongwediva, on Friday.
“To the president, it’s beautiful to be called president, it’s wonderful to be commander in chief, but […] it’s not an easy job to be the chief mourner. I experienced it during my 13 months in office,” Mbumba said.
He added: “So, to you, we wish you strength to carry on the leadership of this beautiful nation. We thank you for honouring Solomon Hawala with a hero’s funeral.”
