NAMIBIAN light-heavyweight boxer Vikapita ‘Beast Master’ Meroro comfortably defeated Russian opponent Jevgenijs Andrejevs on points to enhance his credentials as a serious contender for the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) crown.
On Saturday, WBO Africa light-heavyweight champion Meroro put behind him the disappointment of missing out on a world title fight against holder Juergen Braehmer – who opted for Spain’s WBO-Europe champion Alejandro Lakatos – to dominate Andrejevs over eight rounds at Schwerin’s Sport and Congress Centre in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.’It was a tough fight but he fought very well,’ Meroro’s trainer Nestor Tobias said telephonically minutes before boarding their return flight yesterday.
