Base FM launches website

BASE FM 106.2, formerly known as Katutura Community Radio (KCR) has launched a state-of-the-art interactive website.

The website, www.basefm.com.na, is filled to the brim with the latest web design technology and programming which allows listeners access to video and audio news, a Facebook interface, a local music video portal, top 10 music charts, as well as Skype calling direct to studio. ‘Base FM is the biggest and oldest community radio in Namibia and today becomes the first general community radio to launch its website,’ said station manager Sandra Williams. Williams said listeners will be able to stream local music videos from the website and can also look forward to finding breaking news there. Those with Skype, whether in or outside the country, can call directly into the studio and those with video cameras on their computers will be able to see the person they are talking to in studio. ‘With this website, Base FM is confident that we will be able to reach a far bigger audience, and enrich our existing programmes tremendously. The website is clean, corporate and mature,’ Williams said. Other features on the website include social events, a photo gallery of Base FM staff and a poll that will be running regularly. Williams revealed that the website will be updated every day in order to keep listeners abreast of daily happenings. Base FM is also on Twitter and has a fan page on Facebook with over 4 000 members.
