POLICE at Eenhana are holding bank employees for questioning after an armed robbery early on Friday morning at the Bank Windhoek branch at the town.
The Commander of Police in the Ohangwena Region, Deputy Commissioner Armas Shivute, told The Namibian that three armed men entered the Bank Windhoek mobile branch at Eenhana early on Friday morning. They allegedly beat up the security guard, tied him up and locked him up in a room.They then broke his shotgun into pieces and threw it into a dustbin before they proceeded to steal the money deposited in the bank the previous evening.Deputy Commissioner Shivute said Police could not understand why the bank employees who had deposited the money had not put it in the safe as usual.When approached by The Namibian over the weekend, the Manager of Bank Windhoek in Oshakati said he was unable to comment at this stage.They allegedly beat up the security guard, tied him up and locked him up in a room.They then broke his shotgun into pieces and threw it into a dustbin before they proceeded to steal the money deposited in the bank the previous evening.Deputy Commissioner Shivute said Police could not understand why the bank employees who had deposited the money had not put it in the safe as usual.When approached by The Namibian over the weekend, the Manager of Bank Windhoek in Oshakati said he was unable to comment at this stage.
