BANK Windhoek recently refurbished its Gobabis branch in the Omaheke region and the official opening of the branch was held this weekend.
The refurbishment follows after the bank was gutted by fire some months ago. Addressing the gathering Governor of Omaheke Region, Laura McLeod said she was impressed with the way Bank Windhoek handled the situation after the Gobabis branch was destroyed by fire. The governor also said financial institutions should not only focus on profit making, but should should work hand in hand with regional councils and the government to ensure that objectives such as regional development plans, NDP 2 and Vision 2030 become a reality.McLeod lamented institutions that do their business in the region bypassing the Regional Government, but only thought of McLeod’s office when they are in trouble. The governor pinpointed the Witvlei Abattoir saying, “During its embryo stage we agreed upon that the Regional Council should be involved in all its activities but the abbaittor management ignored the Regional Council and decided by themselves which way to go.Today, its operations have come to a complete stand still due financial dilemma and the Regional Council is now expected to come and assist.”The managing director of Bank Windhoek, Johan Swanepoel said the event hosted as an opportunity for Bank Windhoek to re-commit to the development and infrastructure of the Omaheke region.”We intend making a difference in Gobabis and to play a positive role in the community through building relationships, actively participating in community initiatives and through social investment” said Swanepoel. He went further to say, “Bank Windhoek’s decision to reconstruct and refurbish the Gobabis branch was made when the original building was severely damaged by fire. The branch was reconstructed to facilitate more effective service delivery, to be more customer-friendly and to align it with our new brand identity. The branch is equipped with the bank’s latest technology and boasts excellent security for both clients and staff”.Addressing the gathering Governor of Omaheke Region, Laura McLeod said she was impressed with the way Bank Windhoek handled the situation after the Gobabis branch was destroyed by fire. The branch is equipped with the bank’s latest technology and boasts excellent security for both clients and staff”.
