THE Windhoek Magistrate’s Court in Katutura yesterday denied bail to the man accused of murdering International Univerity of Management (IUM) student Iyaloo Ndapandula Haingumbi (25) last week.
Haingumbi’s body was found dumped on the outskirts of Windhoek along the northbound B1 last Tuesday.
Victor Elia (36) a mini-bus driver was arrested late on Thursday afternoon in connection with Haingumbi’s murder.
Court documents show that Elia and Hainghumbi probably lived together or had a “domestic relationship”.
Elia appeared before magistrate Bernadine Michelle Kubersky.
The state was represented by Ellen Shipena who objected to the granting of bail because of the seriousness of the offence.
Khomas regional police crime coordinator deputy commissioner Sylvanus Nghishindimbwa told The Namibian yesterday that his team worked around the clock to arrest Elia.
Nghishindimbwa also said all evidence they had, pointed to Elia.
He also said that they first called Elia in for questioning Thursday morning before arresting him late that afternoon. – additional reporting by Nampa.
