BA into next FNB Cup stage

BLACK Africa and African Stars have both earned themselves spots in the next round of the FNB Cup with uncompromising wins at the Mariental Sport Sports Stadium over the weekend.

Black Africa first buried Invincible 3-0 on Saturday, before they went on to beat Golden Bees 1-0 at the same venue yesterday. Stars beat SKW 4-0 yesterday to make an entry into the next round of the competition.Stars led 2-0 at half-time in that match yesterday and wrapped up matters in the second stanza.African Stars and SKW were also successful on Saturday, with Stars beating rivals Tigers 2-1 in the dying minutes of the game, while SKW got the better of Deportivo Alaves with a 2-1 in the last clash of the tournament on the day.Tigers and Stars were tied at one all until the final minutes of the game, which saw Tigers being awarded a penalty that killed all hopes of Tigers going for a penalty shootout.Black Africa, which had a successful back-to-back season in terms of cup wins, have vowed to bring back the glory days the team enjoyed especially during the 2004 and 2005 seasons.This season, Black Africa have recruited several young players such as Jerome Louis, Ettiene Muundjua, Nelson Kavenda, Abongile Grootboom who would all view for a starting place.The team has also lost some key players to South African clubs, such as Hartman Toromba and Ephraim Tjihonge who were both signed up by South African premiership outfit Black Leopards.African Stars still have some of their key players that served the team for long now and their experience has counted in favour of the team, judging from their recent matches in the league.Experience in Stars comes from Mali Ngarizemo, Steven Tjeenao, who joined the side from Chief Santos this season, long-serving striker Nico Andima and Johannes Seibeb.The youngest player at Stars is goalkeeper Maximillian Mbaeva, who is only 17.He joined Stars from Ramblers this season.SKW have also assembled players who can make a difference and keep the team in contention for the league title.Six players from mostly premiership teams joined SKW this season.The players who moved to try their luck in the starting line up are Duncan Subeb, who moved from Ramblers, Lawrence Kaapama who came in from African Stars, while Frans Matheus left Tigers.Defender Eric Aoseb left Black Africa, the side with which he won at least four major cup competitions for SKW.Other players who can contribute to the success of SKW include former Orlando Pirates ball juggler Patrick Jagger, former Civics goalie Heribert Kapeng, Marco van Wyk and towering striker Arent von Stryk.The ties between Eleven Arrows vs Blue Waters are scheduled for next weekend, and did not take place this weekend as reported late last week.The teams are divided into two groups, of which some teams are expected to play this coming weekend.Teams that will be in action on Saturday, November 25 are Orlando
