BA blew it against Civics

CIVICS grabbed a 2-0 win against closest rivals Black Africa after striker Jerome Louis had a decisive penalty saved, while Tigers failed to overcome a classy Oshakati City side in Windhoek at the weekend.

Friends enjoyed home-ground advantage at the Reho Stadium, holding Orlando Pirates to a 1-all draw, while African Stars were made to look ordinary by Eleven Arrows in their 2-1 loss at the Kuisebmond Stadium. Blue Waters had to defend their 1-0 lead until the final minute against a spirited SKW side, while Golden Bees suffered a 2-0 loss to Ramblers in Windhoek.Civics opened their account in the last quarter of the first half through a low-flying strike by Patrick M’Kotwana, after BA midfielder Lolo Goraseb ducked, sending his goalkeeper Ronnie Kanalelo the wrong way.Civics, which played without lethal striker William Chilufya in the first half and a weakened defence, which was largely kept intact by veteran Amos Shiyuka, gave BA the chance to capture the match, but blew it.Chilufya who came on as a second half substitute, made BA pay for their relaxed approach to the game as he lobbed-in the second goal, realising that Kanalelo was not on his lines.Civics were persistent in most of their moves, while BA lacked the composure and hardly had any decent shots at goal.In two goalmouth scrambles, BA strikers missed the chance to put the ball into the net, also prompting Kanalelo to take a free-kick himself as the match was drawing to a close. But before that, Kanalelo kept out a possible third goal by neatly tipping the ball over the crossbar, but that save was too late to keep them in contention.Pirates managed to score away through midfielder Patrick Jagger.Eleven Arrows scored through their mercurial midfielder, Rudolph Bester and Erwin Kaujende, while Freedom Puriza responded for the visitors.Oshakati City scored through Samson Kawana and Pele Shilulu, while Clive Mwale put it away for Tigers.Riaan Cloete opened his account for Ramblers for the first time, while Lukius Hafeni fired-home the first goal for Ramblers.Blue Waters had to defend their 1-0 lead until the final minute against a spirited SKW side, while Golden Bees suffered a 2-0 loss to Ramblers in Windhoek.Civics opened their account in the last quarter of the first half through a low-flying strike by Patrick M’Kotwana, after BA midfielder Lolo Goraseb ducked, sending his goalkeeper Ronnie Kanalelo the wrong way.Civics, which played without lethal striker William Chilufya in the first half and a weakened defence, which was largely kept intact by veteran Amos Shiyuka, gave BA the chance to capture the match, but blew it.Chilufya who came on as a second half substitute, made BA pay for their relaxed approach to the game as he lobbed-in the second goal, realising that Kanalelo was not on his lines.Civics were persistent in most of their moves, while BA lacked the composure and hardly had any decent shots at goal.In two goalmouth scrambles, BA strikers missed the chance to put the ball into the net, also prompting Kanalelo to take a free-kick himself as the match was drawing to a close. But before that, Kanalelo kept out a possible third goal by neatly tipping the ball over the crossbar, but that save was too late to keep them in contention.Pirates managed to score away through midfielder Patrick Jagger.Eleven Arrows scored through their mercurial midfielder, Rudolph Bester and Erwin Kaujende, while Freedom Puriza responded for the visitors.Oshakati City scored through Samson Kawana and Pele Shilulu, while Clive Mwale put it away for Tigers.Riaan Cloete opened his account for Ramblers for the first time, while Lukius Hafeni fired-home the first goal for Ramblers.
