Austin Elindi’s co-accused gets bail of N$50 000

A man who was arrested in connection with the National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia’s (Namcor) ongoing corruption case alongside Peter Elindi’s son, Austin Elindi, was granted bail for N$50 000 on Friday.

Connie van Wyk (38) appeared before magistrate Jurina Hochobes and was granted bail on condition that he makes an appearance at the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court on 25 August at 09h00.

Van Wyk, who served as the chief executive of Enercon Namibia was arrested on 28 July alongside Austin.

Magistrate Hochobes said should Van Wyk fail to appear in court, a warrant for his arrest may be issued against him, his bail would be cancelled and the bail money would be provisionally forfeited to the state.
