DEFENCE force-owned company August 26 Manufacturing has appointed Ndapewa Vistorina Hangula as chief executive officer.
Hangula replaces retired brigadier general Silas Amunyela who was fired from the company in February last year.
Sources privy to the matter said Amunyela was fired for an alleged theft of N$26 million from the company owned by the ministry of defence.
The company’s former finance manager Paulus Moshana and his wife Ester Shimwandi are accused of having stolen the funds.
According to a newspaper advert placed by the company yesterday, the appointment is with effect from 1 February 2021.
“Ms Hangula is an avid and solid strategist and business development expert and a mature business leader,” the company said.
It also stated that Hangula brings a combined experience of over 20 years of which 10 have been at senior and executive management level across many industries. Hangula started her career in an information communication technology field before she switched to business.
“Her expertise includes management consulting, strategy development and implementation, performance management, business development and information and communication technology.
“She has successfully led numerous large strategic, business planning and technology projects for various organisations ranging from public enterprises, local authorities as well as private sector organisations, both in Namibia and South Africa,” the company added.
Hangula also worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) for five years as senior manager for client, market development and information and communication technology.
She holds a master’s degree in business administration from Steinbeis University in Germany, a certificate in information and communication technology strategic planning from the University of Malta and a post-graduate diploma in business administration from the University of Cape Town. She also holds a national diploma in business computing from the Namibia University of Science and Technology.
