Assampta Gahutu’s AG Premium Denim Line Catering For Women of All Shapes

When she dropped out of law school at the age of 20, Assumpta Gahutu was not so sure what she was going to pursue career-wise but one thing was for certain – she loved fashion.

Borrowing N$5 000 from her mother soon after she made the decision to leave university, she bought herself a one-way ticket to South Africa. Her youthful abandon soon caught up with her and she found herself stranded without any money to return home.

“I was stuck there for two weeks until a cousin of mine helped me out and I got a bus ticket to come back. Luckily I bought some things there which I came to sell here and managed to pay my mom back,” she says. It was during this time that she realised that she had a knack for business and she soon started tapping into various business ventures – mostly in retail.

Gahutu has since registered to study at another university while taking care of her business interests.

Last Friday, Gahutu took her love for business and fashion to another level when she launched her very own premium denim line. AG Premium Jeans was born when Gahutu got tired of looking for the perfect fit of jeans.

“I struggled to find the right fit and eventually found a site that caters for my fit but then it was way too expensive. I then thought to myself: Why not start my own brand? I mean, I know I’;m not the only one who struggles with this issue,” she says. That was the beginning of what is now her way of making women feel good in a pair of jeans.

The line comes in sizes up to 16 (40) and at a cost of N$580. The jeans, which are manifactured in the Philippines, come in various styles including: Tall Finess, Wedgewood Jeans, Dark Diamond Jeans and the Elite Rhino Jeans.

They are not only made the perfect length for very tall women, but are also perfect for curvy women who often struggle to find the right fit.

The jeans are sold via Gahutu’;s official website assamptagahutu.com where she also sells bikinis, leggings and T-shirts.
