Artists, farmers’ unions make strange bedfellows

THE Namibian Farm Workers’ Union (Nafwu) and the Oruuano of Namibian Artists’ Union have entered into a partnership and signed an agreement aimed at strengthening both unions and improving the efficiency of their local and regional activities.

Although the two unions will have a common objective – to uplift the status and social welfare of farmworkers and artists – they will be operating independently without any interference in each other’s operations. The two unions will establish an umbrella body.”This understanding is made in good faith to protect the interests of both parties and to harmoniously guard operational principles whereby both parties shall share common views amongst other ideas,” said Alfred Angula, the General Secretary of Nafwu. The two unions will establish an umbrella body.”This understanding is made in good faith to protect the interests of both parties and to harmoniously guard operational principles whereby both parties shall share common views amongst other ideas,” said Alfred Angula, the General Secretary of Nafwu.
