The second edition of ‘Let’s Wine and Kapana’ will be an entertainment extravaganza including an art exhibition, live music, networking, and different competitions on offer.
The event, which is set to take place at Shisha Shine Car Wash on Julius K Nyerere Street in Windhoek’s Southern Industrial Area on Saturday (3 December), will be hosted under the theme ‘All White’ and aims to attract more than 300 people.
According to the founder of the event, Silas Malima, they have come up with creative ideas to promote the arts in the country.
He says there will be a ‘Wall of Fame’ and they have invited emerging visual artist Elias Saltiel, known as Qondja, to exhibit his paintings and portraits of prominent locals.
“The exhibition wall will be in the form of a backdrop, and people in attendance will have a chance to view the exhibition on the red carpet,” says Malima.
Apart from that, there will be non-stop live performances by Lukas Shigwedha, popularly known as Tempo.
The live performer from Oniipa, who grew up in a musical family, says he will be performing cover songs from acclaimed local and international singers, as well as some of his new songs.
The event will also see Erongo Winery coming on board to showcase some of its best wines.
“What sets this event apart from the previous one is that we have added white wine that’s going to be served with fish because the theme is ‘All White’,” says Malima.
“Our first meal will be grilled fish paired with chenin blanc from Erongo Winery, followed by our kapana from Dolce and Kapana, served with a red blend in the first round, and the second round it will be served with merlot,” says Malima.
He says people who don’t drink alcohol need not worry, as they also incorporated nonalcoholic beverages to ensure no one is left out.“This will be a night full of fun games and prizes to be won, from wines to kapana vouchers,” says Malima, adding that guests will be welcomed onto the red carpet with a glass of sparkling wine.
Tickets to the event are N$300, and doors open from 18h00.
