Are Namibians Becoming One Woman Men?

Despite constant talk of side chicks and ‘Dirty Kandeshis’, the latest Namibian Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) reports that less Namibian men have had more than one partner over the past year.

According to the survey, among younger men (15 to 24 years), the number of guys with more than one partner dropped from 28% in 2006/7 to 9% in 2014. But what’s the truth? Are Namibian men really becoming one woman men or are they just really good liars? This week, we took to Facebook to find out what our readers think…

Interesting survey. I would like to think that more and more of us are becoming aware of our health and just choose not to be reckless.

We are sticking to one, it’s the women who aren’t. Some are mistaking or misusing feminism to run wild “like men”.

I am of the opinion that foreign social influences and education have both played a vital role in influencing our lifestyles and our love-lives. For example, due to my constant indulgence in films, books, music and so forth, I now have a sense of what intimate relationships are about. My respect for commitment has intensified because the knowledge that I’ve gained from these information hubs has helped me to understand women better, especially with regards to their needs in relationships. Some of those important needs are loyalty and respect, which can only be achieved if you tango.

I feel that a large majority of us progressive and open-minded Namibian men are beginning to respect women’s needs hence the plausible statistic.

How do ‘they’ come to these numbers and stats? Age 15 to 24 is the most reckless (YOLO generation) and I doubt the percentage dropped to 9%, but I hope it’s true.

Yeah, Namibian men are now sticking to just one woman to reduce their risks of being infected by AIDS and STDs.

I would like to say this: We are no more working with that old fashion of having multiple partners/women.

All that one can deduce from the survey and what’s on the ground is that sex is in fashion and morals have gone down the drain.

The survey is very right. Namibian men really want to settle with one partner. I guess they are realising how good it is to be committed and faithful.

I believe that most men each have one partner, only that as the journey goes, they all stop at four way stops and junctions.

The more unfaithfulness, the more pain in life…
