Aranos police remind liquor outlets to follow operating hours during festive season

The Namibian Police at Aranos have called on liquor outlet owners to strictly adhere to the operating hours during the festive season.

Warrant officer Hendrik Nowaseb and sergeant Edward Michael from the community policing division met with licensed outlet owners at the Aranos Town Council chambers last week.

The meeting focused on crime prevention, licence conditions, offences under the law, and the sale of alcohol to minors and intoxicated customers.

Nowaseb stressed the need for outlets to respect operating hours, especially on public holidays.

Michael explained sections of the amended Liquor Act, including offences that can be committed by managers.

Outlet owners asked for stronger police patrols over weekends to reduce crime at the town. The police encouraged them to work closely with law enforcement to keep Aranos safe during the holiday period.

Officers also plan to engage homebrew operators with the same message.
