AR pays tribute to Ras Sheehama

Ras Sheehama

The Affirmative Repositioning (AR) says it mourns the death of Ras Sheehama, an iconic musician who inspired Namibia to fight for freedom and their rights through music and activism.

AR says through songs like ‘Cassinga’ and ‘Inotila’, Sheehama echoed the struggles of Namibian people and they are a symbol of him being against colonialism and imperialism.

He used his voice to speak out against inequality, oppression and social injustice as he believed music is a powerful tool for social change.

AR salutes Sheehama for promoting Namibian music internationally and creating a unique reggae sound rooted in African realities.

“His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of musicians, activists and leaders to fight for an equitable society,” the AR says in a statement released on Saturday.

The party extends condolences to his family, friends and those who loved his music, saying his life and talent touched many and has left behind a legacy that will continue to inspire.
