AR leader recovering well in South Africa after kidney operation

Affirmative Repositioning (AR) leader Job Amupanda says he is recovering well after undergoing a kidney operation in South Africa.

Amupanda made the announcement on Friday through his social media platforms, saying he has been in Johannesburg for a week following a successful medical procedure.

“The technology and technique used in this procedure are unfortunately not available in our country — something we must address,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to his urologist, who, he noted, went beyond the call of duty by accompanying him to South Africa and playing a key role in his recovery.

Amupanda thanked his wife and mother for their support during his recovery, and said he is being attended to by “a team of exceptional doctors”.

“The pain is slowly fading, and the body is healing from surgery,” he added.

Once cleared to travel, Amupanda said he will return to Namibia, where he will follow a strict recovery programme prescribed by his doctor and his wife, which will require him to scale down on several activities.

He assured supporters that the AR movement remains active despite his temporary absence, urging activists in all 121 constituencies to continue their work.

On the political front, Amupanda said the party’s parliamentarians have been briefed on his condition and the way forward.
