THE creation of another uranium mine in the Erongo Region is on the horizon.
The Hoasib Project, in an area about 80 km east of Walvis Bay and partially in the Namib-Naukluft Park, and in close proximity to Langer Heinrich and Bannerman’s ‘Goanikontes’ Project, is expected to yield ‘extremely exciting’ results, according to reports from Mineral Commodities Limited (MRC), an Australian-based company. MRC recently entered into an agreement with Africa Uranium Limited (AUL), which provides for MRC to have exclusive rights to fund AUL’s mineral exploration activities in return for equity in AUL. Africa Uranium is an unlisted public company with uranium projects in Namibia and South Africa. The project is only in its exploration stage, but recent finds have confirmed the existence of mine-able uranium deposits. ‘The proximity to other uranium mines with proven reserves such as Langer Heinrich and Bannerman Resources’ makes this an extremely exciting prospect,’ the report stated.
