Another Hardap Swapo leader quits

A MEMBER of the Hardap Swapo District Executive, Botha Basson, has quit the Swapo Party to join the Rally for Democracy and Progress.

Basson yesterday told The Namibian that he had tendered his resignation to the ruling party. He was one of three Hardap Swapo leaders barred from attending the recent Swapo Party congress held in Windhoek.According to Basson, he had been removed from list of congress delegates because his wife, Francis Basson, who also quit Swapo recently, serves on the RDP leadership. He said that continuous witch-hunting and mudslinging within the Swapo Party over the past nine years had forced him to give up.He added that Swapo had lost it vision with regard to democracy.Basson said he will take the position of Hardap Regional Co-ordinator in the RDP.He was one of three Hardap Swapo leaders barred from attending the recent Swapo Party congress held in Windhoek.According to Basson, he had been removed from list of congress delegates because his wife, Francis Basson, who also quit Swapo recently, serves on the RDP leadership. He said that continuous witch-hunting and mudslinging within the Swapo Party over the past nine years had forced him to give up.He added that Swapo had lost it vision with regard to democracy.Basson said he will take the position of Hardap Regional Co-ordinator in the RDP.
