AFTER the unfortunate departure of Milka Muzengua from the ‘Just Fabulous’ makeover competition – she could not get leave from her employer to finish the programme – new contestant Regina Handivele was invited to join.
The decision to bring a new contestant onto the show at this stage was done after careful consideration and on the recommendation of the ‘Just Fabulous’ occupational therapist and mentor to the contestants, Liesel Vermaak. The reasoning is that there is still enough time left in the programme to make a substantial contribution to another person’s life. Twenty-year-old Regina from Katutura is currently studying to improve her Grade 12 results. She entered the competition to improve her appearance and wellbeing in order to build a healthy self-esteem, which she lacks. Tears streamed down her face when One Africa Television’s ‘Just Fabulous’ film crew knocked on her door to share the news in person. Since then Regina is working hard to get on track with her diet, exercise and personal development programme. On learning that she would join the ‘Just Fabulous’ programme after she fell out in the semi-final round, Regina said: ‘I am sorry for Milka that she is losing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but I am really over the moon to get this chance and I will do my best to live up to the challenge. I have already gained so much from this experience and I can just imagine that there will be much more to learn’.Regina is an introvert and spends her time with family and friends, having a braai and watching television, rather than going out to clubs over weekends. During the week she studies and helps out at her parents’ business. According to Adel Oosthuizen, co-producer of ‘Just Fabulous’, Regina has already lost 2 kg after her first week on the programme and she is very satisfied with her progress. ‘Just Fabulous’ is broadcast on One Africa Television at 20h00 every Sunday.
