Anger over Bush plan

WASHINGTON – Environmental groups in the United States on Tuesday sued to block the Bush administration’s current plan to open millions of acres in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska to oil and natural gas drilling because they want more protection for the area’s wildlife.

The Interior Department last month finalised a plan to make the vast majority of an 8,8 million acre portion in the northwest area of the reserve available for drilling. – Nampa-Reuters- Nampa-Reuters
