Activist and presidential hopeful Job Amupanda has been promoted from the rank of senior lecturer to that of associate professor of political studies at the University of Namibia (Unam).
Amupanda said the promotion is a certification of meeting all requirements of a specific number of scholarly research publication outputs, a number of years of teaching and teaching related competencies, and a meritorious portfolio of community engagement as specified in the university’s academic promotions policy.
Additionally, this follows multi-layered assessments and evaluations, including an external evaluation by international scholars from international universities who are at the rank of professor.
“Becoming a professor was always a set target to be accomplished during my youthful years. At 36, I thus become the youngest professor in political studies at the University of Namibia and indeed in our beautiful country,” Amupanda said.
Lesley Blaauw, from the same department was also promoted from associate professor to full professor.
