Communal and resettled farmers from the ||Kharas and Hardap regions met on Saturday for the 2026 Amperbo Smallstock Show, organised by Suide Boere-Netwerk.

The organisers say the show, one of several activities planned for this year, was held at the Amperbo auction pens, about 110km from Mariental. The event showcased Boer goats, Meatmaster sheep and Van Rooy sheep from southern Namibia. Breeders and judges Wihan Brandt and Johny Hanekom guided emerging farmers on selecting and preparing animals for shows at the event. The grand champion of the show was Nico Higoam’s Boer goat lamb. In the Boer goat section, a four-tooth ram, owned by Jonas Motinga, won its class. In the Van Rooy category, Kenneth April’s ewes were named senior and reserve champions in the female class.
