Aminius councillor appeals for borehole repair trucks in Omaheke

Aminius Councillor Peter Kazongominja

The Omaheke region has one broken water tanker, and one borehole repair truck that serves the whole eastern region, the councillor for Aminius constituency, Peter Kazongominja, has said.

Speaking in the National Council, he said all seven constituencies depend on one truck for the repair and rehabilitation of boreholes.

“Only one truck can repair boreholes. If that truck is in Eiseb, we are on the waiting list for up to three months to wait for boreholes to be repaired,” Kazongominja said.

He said staff members recruited to repair boreholes are lying idle at constituency offices across the region due to a lack of repair trucks.

“The staff are recruited in every constituency, but they are doing nothing, and they are on the government payroll,” he said.

He, therefore, called on the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, and Land Reform to provide each constituency with a repair truck and a water tanker.

He made the call in the National Council while contributing to the budget vote for water affairs, which has been allocated N$632 million.
