Alleged wife killer hands himself over to police after 24-hour run

The suspect (44) accused of killing his wife at Katima Mulilo handed himself over to the police on Tuesday.

It is alleged that the suspect assaulted his wife, Rachel Simasiku (33), at their home at Choto location in the Zambezi region on Sunday evening and then fled the scene.

Simasiku died as a result of the injuries she sustained shortly after arriving at the hospital.

The suspect has been on the run until he surrendered himself.

Zambezi crime investigations coordinator Albius Liomba has confirmed to The Namibian that the suspect handed himself over around 04h46 at the Katima Mulilo Police Station.

Liomba adds that he will be formally charged on Tuesday and appear in the Katima Mulilo Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
