Alleged suicide note still missing: Police

THE Police at Oshakati are still looking for a suicide note apparently left by Oshana Regional Elections Co-ordinator Anna Kuwa-Ashikoto (47) who hanged herself with a wire in her room at Ongwediva last Wednesday.

“It is so difficult to get that alleged note, because the late Kuwa-Ashikoto’s husband, Paul Ashikoto, is denying that he is in possession of that note allegedly left by her,” Deputy Commissioner Josef Anghuwo said yesterday. Paul Ashikoto is a traditional headman from the Ondonga district who is also one of the members of the Resettlement Committees in the North.Anghuwo said some relatives of Kuwa-Ashikoto told the Police last week that Ashikoto took a note left by his late wife.Anghuwo sent investigators to Ashikoto to get the alleged note, but to no avail.”The documents Ashikoto gave or showed to the Police were not the ones we wanted, and now we do not know whether we will ever get those documents that were allegedly there,” Anghuwo said.Apart from being the Regional Elections Co-ordinator, Kuwa-Ashikoto worked for the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare at Ongwediva as Chief Community Liaison Officer. She was buried at her home village of Onayena in the Oshikoto Region on Sunday.Paul Ashikoto is a traditional headman from the Ondonga district who is also one of the members of the Resettlement Committees in the North.Anghuwo said some relatives of Kuwa-Ashikoto told the Police last week that Ashikoto took a note left by his late wife.Anghuwo sent investigators to Ashikoto to get the alleged note, but to no avail.”The documents Ashikoto gave or showed to the Police were not the ones we wanted, and now we do not know whether we will ever get those documents that were allegedly there,” Anghuwo said.Apart from being the Regional Elections Co-ordinator, Kuwa-Ashikoto worked for the Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare at Ongwediva as Chief Community Liaison Officer. She was buried at her home village of Onayena in the Oshikoto Region on Sunday.
