The biggest running event on the spring calendar, the Nedbank Citi Dash, will take place at the Windhoek High School (WHS) Vegkop Stadium on 6 September.
The sixth edition of the road-running event is set to have over 2 000 runners.
This will be the second successive year that the Nedbank Citi Dash takes place at the Vegkop Stadium, following its successful move to the venue in 2025.
The Nedbank Citi Dash has established itself as a cornerstone national platform for health, wellness, community connection, and active living.
Following strong growth, the 2026 edition caters for everyone, from elite professional athletes to recreational joggers, families, corporate teams, and schools.
The action-packed weekend kicks off on Saturday, with the LiveXpo race village, featuring health and lifestyle stalls, food, drinks, music, and family entertainment.
On Sunday morning, the main running events will move to the streets, starting at 07h00 with the 10km elite run. This event is reserved for competitive runners who meet the qualifying times of under 55 minutes (men) and 60 minutes (women) to compete for trophies and cash prizes.
At 07h15, the 10km Fun Run will see social runners and fitness enthusiasts take to the road before the family run starts at 07h45 for the 5km distance, which is open to all fitness levels.
All participants who complete their race within the designated cut-off times will receive a commemorative finisher medal.
Event organisers say all preparations are complete.
Major road closures will be in place in parts of Windhoek CBD to provide runners with a safe, vehicle-free experience through the heart of the city.
Event organiser Frank Bombosch highlights that all operational logistics are securely in place and expressed appreciation to key municipal partners.
“All logistics are fully in place, and our team is ready to deliver an exceptional, world-class experience for thousands of Namibians this weekend.
“We extend our deepest gratitude and pay tribute to the City of Windhoek for allowing us to shut down key parts of the city centre, so our participants can run safely. Safety is our top priority, and we strongly appeal to all motorists driving along or near the race routes to exercise extreme caution and obey traffic instructions throughout the morning.”
Nedbank Namibia remains committed to supporting local sport and wellness initiatives.
Nedbank Namibia spokesperson Selma Kaulinge has praised the organisers efforts in driving public engagement and highlight the growing youth involvement.
She says the organisers have done a tremendous job of mobilising the community and building toward the growth of this event. “It is particularly inspiring to see the overwhelming response from junior runners and schools.”

Race number collection will take place at the LiveXpo venue at WHS Vegkop Stadium on Saturday between 10h00 and 16h00.
