All set for Namport Kunene Regional Football League

Organisers of the Namport Kunene Regional Football league have announced that everything is set for the event on 17 January at Newman Katuta Stadium where Okarindi Komutati FC and Kunene Nampol FC will play.

The event kicks off at 15h00.

Kaarua James Mupia, the general manager of Okarindi Komutati FC said the game is not just about points, it’s about pride, unity and identity.

“This is not just another league game, this is the pride of Opuwo on the line. We are calling on all football-loving fans to come in numbers and the stadium. The clubs is participating in the second division and they deserve our full support,” Mupia said.

Mupia said town leaders have also been invited to witness history in Opuwo.

“We have invited town officials to witness this game, because it is more than football, it’s a showcase of our identity and talent. We want the fans to come and cheer passionately but with respect , no hooliganism. Let’s show the rest of the country that Opuwo football is not just growing, it’s maturing. All the best to Okarindi Komutati FC and Kunene Nampol FC, may the best team win,” Mupia said.

“We are having a crucial league game this weekend which means a lot to us considering our position last season. Players are injuries free and we are aiming for 6 points,” Silverfoxx Tjijeura, assistant coach of Kunene nampol fc said.

Sunday T Ndjai, Okarindi Komutati FC head coach said the people around Opuwo have been waiting for this day to come and they are looking forward to an exciting game.

“We are full of energy and enthusiasm. We are calling for Okarindi Komutati FC supporters to come in number,” Ndjai said.

Supporter Michael Amagulu said he and some friends will surely attend the event and can’t wait for the kick off whistle. 

“I am a fan of both teams. I will cheering for both teams. The match is much more than a soccer event, it’s about people coming together and learning more about the sport. I am also looking forward to seeing new skills. I am looking forward to make a few new friends as well as the event is the perform platform to socialize,” Amagulu said.
