All Roads Lead To… Bon Hotel Swakopmund

Situated just five minutes walking distance from Swakopmund’s beautiful beach, Namibia’s only Bon Hotel is a treasure trove of family fun, wellness and accommodation that suits every pocket.

The leading four-star hotel in Namibia’s tourist town, Bon Hotel is the only place at the coast that is ideally located in the Dome Complex which houses a conference centre, gym, spa, indoor heated pool, restaurants, roof top bar, children’s play centre and the country’s best indoor sports facility.

When I stayed in this hotel two years ago, I had a dome facing room. It gave me the perfect view of some of the biggest sports tournaments taking place at the venue at the time and while it’s not ideal for people who enjoy afternoon naps, it can be quite entertaining. All 18 standard rooms which are dome-facing are complete with modern decor and king-sized beds ideal for a good night’s rest.

This time around, I was lucky enough to stay in one of the sea-facing rooms and woke up to the most stunning view of the Atlantic Ocean. Twelve rooms at the hotel are sea-facing, and like all standard rooms, guests enjoy en-suite bathrooms which include a shower. The hotel is modern and stylishly furnished, and many do not know this, but it’s a green building that is about 70% solar powered.

During both my stays at the hotel, I found the staff to be friendly, helpful and always professional during my interactions with them.

While I wasn’t fortunate enough to stay in one yet, a dream of mine is to one day enjoy the absolute luxury of the deluxe rooms at Bon Hotel. These are the premium rooms – and while they do cost significantly more than the standard rooms, they are furnished with extra-length king-sized beds and feature a bath and shower in the en-suite bathroom.

Guests get to choose between dome-facing or sea-viewing options but obviously, the ones with the ocean view win hands down. The deluxe rooms are also ideal for families, with a sleeper coach providing extra sleeping space for the little ones.

When it comes to meals, a variety of options are available. From the full breakfast buffet at Zest Restaurant on the ground floor of the Dome building to lunch or dinner at At The Dome Restaurant – the choice is all yours.

For the sports lover, the popular Locker Room on the first floor is a trendy sports bar and whiskey room where you can either relax and have drinks or enjoy a select menu of fast foods whenever you’re looking for a quick meal.

The best thing about Bon Hotel is that it really is a home away from home. So many services and facilities are available at your convenience and staying there makes exploring Swakopmund and the surrounding areas so easy.

For the best deals when booking a room at the hotel, visit bonhotels.com where many specials are run throughout the year, including the Bonami loyalty programme which allows guests to enjoy special benefits for a small membership fee.
