Algeria commits to sharing expertise with Namibia to boost oil, gas sector

Algeria has reaffirmed its commitment to share its energy expertise with Namibia through legal support, capacity building and technical training to support Namibia’s oil and gas sector.

This came during a meeting between Namibia’s vice president, Lucia Witbooi, and Algeria’s minister of energy, mines and renewable energy, Mohamed Arkab, in Algeria.

The pledge is part of Algeria’s efforts to align with president Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s vision of fostering African partnerships rooted in mutual growth.

Witbooi was accompanied by deputy minister of international relations and trade Jenelly Matundu, special advisor and head of the Upstream Petroleum Unit in the Presidency Kornelia Shilunga and other government officials.

The meeting marked a step forward in strengthening bilateral relations and advancing cooperation in the energy sector.

The vice president expressed appreciation to Algeria and underscored president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah’s commitment to ensuring benefits for all Namibians.

Both countries agreed to deepen engagement through high-level visits, technical exchanges and site visits to the oil and gas fields.
