The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) on Friday said operations across all its facilities remain fully functional despite a recent cyberattack that led to the theft of 500GB of data.
Investigations into the attack revealed it was carried out by INC Ransom Group, a worldwide cybercriminal organisation.
NAC spokesperson Dan Kamati in a statement issued on Friday says the company is aware that the group has accessed 500GB of its data and is allegedly threatening to release it on the dark web once a timer lapses.
Kamati, however, assures the public that airport operations across NAC-managed facilities will continue, and that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
“As a precautionary measure, the NAC continues to strengthen system security and monitoring, engage leading cybersecurity experts, and engage relevant authorities and cybersecurity partners in addressing this matter,” he says.
Kamati says the NAC is committed to transparency and will provide further updates once credible evidence emerges.
