Air Namibia resumes Frankfurt flight route

AIR Namibia has resumed its Windhoek-Frankfurt flight route after it was cancelled over the weekend, following an accident at the Frankfurt Airport in Germany.

The national airline’s Airbus A330-200 was involved in an accident at Frankfurt Airport in Germany on Saturday, and as a result cancelled its Frankfurt-Windhoek flight the same evening.

The incident happened after the Airbus landed at Frankfurt Airport on Saturday at 18h20, and was taxiing to the final parking position. Air Namibia’s interim chief executive officer Xavier Masule said in a media statement issued on Monday that the Airbus A330 landed at Hosea Kutako International Airport on Monday at around 08h25.

“The flight made a speedy turnaround, and resourcefully took off for the flight back to Frankfurt at 10h00,” he added.

He indicated that preliminary investigations into the matter show that the damage caused by the incident was not of a major consequence, enabling the aircraft to return back into operation.
