Agra to open feeding kraal in the South

MARIENTAL – Farmers in the Hardap Region will soon be able to sell below market value livestock to Agra Co-operative at the southern town.

Agra recently completed the construction of a feeding kraal that would be able to accommodate about 10 000 small livestock. Agra told a local publication, Die Agie, recently that the main aim of the feeding kraal is to establish a market for livestock that are not yet ready to be sold to slaughterhouses. The co-operative will now buy the livestock and feed them at the kraal before they are sold.Agra said that since the laws on the export of livestock on hoof, especially to neighbouring South Africa, had been amended by Government to promote value addition for Namibian products, a need had arisen for a market for animals not yet ready for slaughter. The new facility is expected to become operational this month.Agra will move its office to the feeding kraal site for administrative purposes.Karakul pelts should also now be delivered at the kraal.- NampaAgra told a local publication, Die Agie, recently that the main aim of the feeding kraal is to establish a market for livestock that are not yet ready to be sold to slaughterhouses. The new facility is expected to become operational this month.Agra will move its office to the feeding kraal site for administrative purposes.Karakul pelts should also now be delivered at the kraal.- Nampa
