Agogo Skuza on new music, record label

Agogo is set to release a new single called ‘Banyana’.

Agogo Skuza, or just Agogo, an Arandis-based social commentator, YouTuber, and singer, has returned to the entertainment spotlight.

This time with a tune titled ‘Banyana’, which, he says, is ready to take the industry by storm.

The teaser for the song recorded this month has gotten people talking on social media.

The Afro-piano track, which is all about sharing and caring, features Zella Fullforce and was produced at Agogo’s new Hit after Hit Records studio.

“Zella and I have come a long way, and as close friends we like to brainstorm new ideas and make work of it,” Agogo says.

“When music is part of your everyday life, you’re always looking for new ways to make new songs and tell new stories, and I think that’s why ‘Banyana’ is such a great hit,” he says.

He says despite not being officially released, the song is currently dominating social media.

“I know and believe that with good marketing and dedication, a new song will be released before the excitement dies down. For the time being, I’m releasing ‘Banyana’ as a single, but I’m already working on a few new songs for an album that will be released in a couple of months,” Agogo says.

“Lately, I have mostly been focusing on my business, as well as marketing my brand, ‘Opuwo Ndamana’, because as an entrepreneur, you always need to keep busy.

“But I realised I have kept my fans in suspense, because 70% were complaining about me being quiet, so for now I will focus on completing my new album.”

Agogo says his upcoming album, titled ‘Promise’, would comprise 14 tracks. Top Cheri, King Tee Dee, Zella Full Force, and Ethnix are scheduled to feature on the album.

The artist says he will also release two new tracks as part of the next album with ‘Banyana’.

Agogo’s debut album, titled ‘Julle Sal Verstaan’, produced by Zonesh from Musketeers, was released two years ago, and features songs such as ‘Opuwo Ndamana’, featuring Oxocords and Azmo Nawe, as well as ‘Oshitenda’ and ‘Ohela’.

Agogo has also launched Hit after Hit Records at his home town, with the goal of promoting underground talent in his community. He now has three in-house producers, including Zella Full Force, Justine 03, and SK Music Nam, he says.

“When I started on my music path, it was something I wanted for myself, because at a small town like Arandis, it’s not so easy to just walk into a studio and record, and I also noticed a lot of young, talented producers out there and wanted to make a difference and expose them to the industry,” he says.

He says he is currently working with several “brilliant young individuals”, and expects that more of them will come forward to promote Arandis’ exceptional artists.

“I am always ready to keep people on their feet and give them a good time,” Agogo says.

He says he will be performing at the Windhoek Annual Cultural Festival from 27 (tomorrow) to 30 April, and at the Amper Vrydag en Skoon Van Arandis Bash.

“I also intend to host an ‘Opuwo Ndama’ music bash, which will become an annual event and provide a platform for young entertainers.”
