African Unity A Regional Affair

WITH regard to the recent conference about forming a United States of Africa – while I am sceptical it could happen in the next 100 years – I would suggest the way to start is for the various regions of Africa to come together and become one country.

We could surely start with southern Africa. Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Lesotho could join up with South Africa. They are all English speaking and all of them, with the possible exception of Botswana, would be better off by doing this. With the latest news from Zimbabwe, I think the majority of their citizens would welcome this.Maybe when there are 5 or 6 countries then it might be feasible to join up.Africa must stop thinking it can bypass all the things the rest of the world has to go through to become a developed and prosperous region. With the way Africa’s leaders behave, to stay in power as long as they can, it is not hard to imagine what would happen when one of them became the “President of Africa”.Chris King Walvis BayNamibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and Lesotho could join up with South Africa. With the way Africa’s leaders behave, to stay in power as long as they can, it is not hard to imagine what would happen when one of them became the “President of Africa”.Chris King Walvis Bay
