Zimbabwe and Namibia will make their push for next year’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in the Global Qualifier.
With an eight-wicket win in the second semifinal, Namibia became the second team from Africa to take book their spot for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier.
Joining them will be Zimbabwe, who are also through to the Global Qualifier after defeating Uganda by five wickets in the first semi-final of the continental qualifying competition.
While Zimbabwe have remained unbeaten in the tournament so far, Namibia were through to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 1 final after handing Tanzania their first defeat in a one-sided tussle.
The two finalists will join the Netherlands and Ireland, who gained entry via the Europe Qualifier, along with Scotland and Bangladesh, who had earned automatic qualification based on their participation in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup.
The other teams that will feature in the 10-team global qualifier are United States, who qualified through the Americas Qualifier, Nepal and Thailand, who made it through the Asia Qualifiers. Another spot will be occupied from the East-Asia Pacific Qualifier.
Top four teams from among the 10 in the Global Qualifier will go through to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 in England next year. – icc-cricket.com
