ACC collaborates with Botswana for anti-corruption awareness campaign at border

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Botswana’s directorate on corruption and economic crime (DCEC) jointly hosted a two-day anti-corruption awareness campaign to strengthen their cross-border cooperation.

The awareness campaign, which took place from 5 to 6 December at the Trans-Kalahari/Mamuno One-Stop Border Post, also aimed to promote integrity among stakeholders operating along the Trans-Kalahari corridor.

The ACC says the awareness campaign resulted from the endorsement of the revised joint technical committee work plan for the 2025/26 financial year by both sides at the second session of the Bi-National Commission, held in Windhoek on 10 October.

The two countries also have an agreement on cooperation in combating corruption, entered into by the ACC and DCEC in August 2021.

“The anti-corruption awareness campaign was held with support from the European Union/United Nations Development Programme good governance project,” the ACC states.

International Anti-Corruption Day was observed at Gobabis in the Omaheke region on Tuesday, under the theme ‘Uniting with Youth Against Corruption: Shaping Tomorrow’s Integrity.’

The ACC says through this commemorative event, they hope to further raise public awareness about corruption and its impact on socio-economic development.

“ACC would furthermore educate the public on the mandate and work of the ACC and empower young people to advocate against corruption and champion integrity within their communities.

“Namibia joins the global community in raising awareness about corruption and promoting the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability,” the ACC says.
