The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) last week arrested a senior agricultural technician and a member of the public over an alleged government subsidy scheme.
Muliehi Neo (41), employed as a senior agricultural technician at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, and Panduleni Hamunime (47) from Okadiva village appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
Both were granted bail of N$5 000 and their case continues on 5 March 2026.
The two were arrested following investigations into suspected corrupt acts dating back to 2017.
According to the ACC, Neo allegedly inflated a claim under the Government Weeding Subsidy Scheme from N$7 500 to N$18 000. The pair then reportedly misappropriated the excess N$10 500 for personal gain.
The suspects also allegedly misled the Ndemutalelapo Supporting Group into believing the extra money was intended for private or funeral expenses.
Both suspects are facing charges under the ACC Act, the Prevention of Organised Crime Act relating to money laundering, and the Riotous Assemblies Act.
