AC Promotions chairman Imms Paulus has called for private and government support to raise funds for Flame ‘Special One’ Nangolo’s title defence on 25 April.

Nangolo is set to on defend his WBO Africa Super Featherweight title at the Roman Catholic venue against an opponent yet to be named.

Nangolo has recently been ranked in the Top 15 by the World Boxing Organization (WBO), a major milestone that brings him significantly closer to challenging for a world title at the right time in his career.

According to a press release issued by AC Promotions, Nangolo is expected to depart for a high-performance training camp in Las Vegas, where he will sharpen his skills ahead of his showdown as part of preparations for his title defence.

“The proposed fight presents a major challenge for AC Promotions, as the event currently lacks sponsorship to cover essential fight logistics, including WBO sanctioning fees and operational costs. We are therefore appealing to corporate companies to come on board and partner with us in making this historic event a success,” a success the statement reads.

“We also respectfully call upon the ministry of education, innovation, youth, sport, art and culture, through its sports budget, to support us as promoters. Promoters play a critical role in the development of boxing in the country by creating platforms for athletes to compete, grow, and gain international recognition,” it added.

“In the absence of sponsorship, we believe the government can step in to ensure the continued growth and success of professional boxing and the representation of our nation on the global stage,” it said.

Tickets for the fight will cost N$300 per person or VIP table seating of N$20 000 per table of 10.

“We strongly encourage corporate companies and institutions to purchase VIP tables, which will significantly assist in raising funds to cover WBO sanctioning fees and other logistical requirements. Together, we can make this championship defence a landmark event for boxing and for the country,” the statement added.
