It was a huge step for gaming technology this past week after new games and tech were released at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2017 held in Los Angeles.
Featuring some of the mega tech companies in the industry such as EA Games, Sony and Microsoft, among many others, gamers rejoiced in unison because a new level of gaming has just been unlocked. Missed out of the announcements? We’ve got you.
There’s a new Xbox in town! Known officially as the tongue twisting Xbox One X, what makes this new console unique is its ability to run 4K gaming, which means a whole lot of impressive graphics and a ton of fun. It may be a well-designed package on the inside, but the outside design doesn’t say much – it’s almost like two rectangular houses stacked on top of each other, similar to its predecessor.
One of the major visual changes is the colour which is described as a space-gray. Bit meh. But you’ll get a one terabyte hard drive and all the Xbox One’s existing games will be supported on the console as well as Xbox 360 games.
During the live streaming, Xbox boss Phil Spencer said “you’re going to be able to play the biggest busters on Xbox One. If you haven’t joined the Xbox One family, now is the time”.
After years of waiting, Sony finally announced the release date for ‘God of War’ – early 2018. What a relief. For ‘Call of Duty’ lovers, the next WWII game has a multiplayer trailer out, so you can go check it out online.
Oh, and there’s a new Spiderman game coming. Branching into the world of virtual reality, Sony heavily promoted the PlayStation VR, a new headset compatible with the PS4. Not to mention Ubisoft’s upcoming release of the new ‘Far Cry 5’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed Origins’ later this year.
PC gamers, you haven’t been left out either. There are over 10 new games coming to PC including ‘Forza Motorsport 7’ and ‘Age of Empires’. Into Nintendo? Expect ‘The Evil Within 2’, ‘Elder Scrolls: Skyrim’ as well as ‘DOOM’ and ‘Wolfenstein II’. While we’ll be anticipating these new games and twiddling our thumbs, for now, it’s best to sate your hunger by checking out the trailers and deciding what will interest you the most.
