Whether by design or choice, you might find yourself stuck behind a desk at some point or other.
Keeping an organised desk space can be the difference between feeling productive and getting work done, and spending 20 minutes looking for a pen to write with.
Here are some simple DIY desk space organisers that you can make using materials you find lying around the house.
You will need:
• Scissors
• A ruler
• A pencil
• A marker
• Glue
• Cellotape
• Prestik
• Gift wrapping paper
• A clipboard
• An old cereal box
Cereal Box Folders
Step 1: Cut off the flaps
Step 2: With a marker, draw a triangle in the right corner of the front side of the box, draw a horizontal line across the spine of the box then continue to draw a triangle on the opposite side of the front
Step 3: With scissors, cut out the triangle
Step 4: Choosing the wrapping paper of your choice, lay it out on a flat surface and wrap the cereal box using glue in the corners
Step 5: Put in your papers/folders and get organised!
Clipboard Noticeboard/Pinboard
Step 1: With a pencil and ruler, draw out the shape of the clipboard on the gift wrapping paper
Step 2: Using a pair of scissors, cut out the shape of the clipboard from the gift wrapping paper
Step 3: Glue the gift wrapping paper onto the clipboard
Step 4: Using a blank sheet of paper, write down your to-do list, shopping list, dream boards ideas, etc. and then clip it onto the clipboard using the clamp
Step 5: Using a generous amount of Prestik on the four corners of the clipboard, press it down on the wall in front of your desk so that you can easily access it.
• If you have spare glass tumblers lying around, you can use them as classy pen holders or buy one from Pep for between N$5 and N$10.
• To store your books, you can use a mini crate box as a DIY bookshelf. You can get one at Mr Price for anything between N$99 and N$200 in varying sizes and colours.
• Add a pot plant or small vase of flowers to your desk for that extra pop of colour and enjoy your new workspace.
