A dead body, fake money and a stolen car

POLICE in Windhoek are trying to put together pieces of a puzzle, involving a burnt human body, a blood-smeared kitchen, a brick and fake money wrapped in refuse bags.

At around 15h30 on December 29, a partly burnt body of a man was found behind the Goreangab Dam, and after investigating the matter, Police say they were led to a house in Sam Nujoma Drive. At this house they found a kitchen smeared with blood, as well as a brick and bundles of fake money wrapped in plastic bags.Police are still waiting for the identity of the deceased to be determined scientifically they say.DNA tests and dental comparisons are among some of the tests that will be carried out.Although still awaiting the results of the tests to positively identify the deceased, Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Hieronymous Goraseb said they “strongly believe” that the body is that of a 35-year old German national, Ralph Kohnke. This belief is strengthened, he says, by the fact that the Toyota Condor Kohnke normally uses was discovered in Wanaheda. This, Police say, shows signs of a robbery.Kohnke is the General Manager of the Namibian Aviation Training Academy.According to a colleague yesterday, Kohnke has been on leave from work since December 23, and was only due to return to work next Monday. He was apparently living alone, as his family resides in Germany.Police are investigating charges of murder as well as robbery with aggravating circumstances.
