Katjavivi remembers Nujoma as a forthright leader

The speaker of the National Assembly Peter Katjavivi remembers the founding president Sam Nujoma for his forthright leadership and contribution to the foundation of the country.

Katjavivi said this in a condolence letter addressed to Utoni Nujoma, the son of the founding president.

“On behalf of the National Assembly, I hereby extend our deepest heartfelt condolences and sympathy to yourself, your dear mother and the entire bereaved Nujoma family,” he said.

Katjavivi said he was blessed to have served directly under the founding president both during the liberation struggle and after independence.

He said Nujoma laid down a firm foundation for Namibia.

President Nangolo Mbumba announced Nujoma’s death on Sunday, informing the nation that he died on 8 February at 23h45 in a Windhoek hospital.
