President Nangolo Mbumba on Sunday urged the media to acknowledge the role of the late founding president, Sam Nujoma, in securing their freedom to report.
“This is the man without whom you would still be under colonialism. Don’t forget that,” Mbumba said.
Speaking at the residence of the late president following his passing on Saturday, Mbumba addressed the Nujoma family and members of the media.
He emphasised Nujoma’s leadership in Namibia’s liberation struggle.
“He made ordinary workers – from farm workers to mine workers – trained them and made them brilliant soldiers,” the president said.
