A DRIVER and two passengers died instantly when the vehicle in which they were travelling veered off the road and overturned on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred on the gravel road between Helmeringhausen and Bethanie. The acting Karas Regional Police Commander, Chief Inspector Nicky Nampala, said the driver lost control as a result of a tyre burst. The deceased people are 27-year-old Axel Mashuna (driver), Erastus Amukugo (36) and Namibian Defence Force soldier Josef Ndeshi Shikongo, age unknown. The two surviving passengers, Jonas Nafuka (33) and Walter Shimi (32), only sustained minor injuries.
