A domestic worker (22) was arrested over the weekend for allegedly raping a two-year-old girl at Ohamwiimbi village in the Ohangwena region.
The girl’s aunt says she left her niece at home alone with the worker to fetch water on Friday.
“I left the child with the young man who looks after the house. I didn’t think anything of it, as I usually leave the child with him.
“However, the following morning, I noticed my niece was crying while urinating. I asked the child what was wrong and she told me what had been done to her,” she says.
Acting Ohangwena regional police commander Bennett Muyambago says the suspect is set to appear in the Ohangwena Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
